Cannabis medicines have been prescribable in the UK since November 2018. A lawful prescription means lawful possession — the starting point for every conversation with an employer, landlord or officer.
Evidence to keep with you
Your prescription or clinic letter, the dispensing label on the medicine, and your clinic's contact details. Keep medicine in its original labelled packaging.
What to do in the moment
Stay calm, state that you hold a prescription, show your documentation, and note names, times and badge or reference numbers. Then report it to us.
Talking to your employer
Most workplace problems come from drug and alcohol policies written before 2018. A short, well-evidenced letter usually resolves it before it escalates.
